Firehouse Subs® Unleashes K-9 Crew Plushie Collection Honouring Real-Life Hero Dogs for First Responders Month
Three limited-edition plush pups arrive October 28 for $9.95 each, with 100% of net profits benefiting the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada®; one-day Hook & Ladder® fundraiser offers another way to give back
TORONTO, Oct. 21, 2026 /CNW/ — Firehouse Subs®, the firefighter-founded restaurant brand known for its hot, hearty subs, is celebrating First Responders Month with the launch of the Firehouse Subs K-9 Crew, a limited-edition collection of plushie pups inspired by three real-life K-9 heroes. Available beginning Wednesday, October 28, exclusively in-store at participating Firehouse Subs restaurants in Canada*, each plushie will retail for $9.95 (plus taxes), while supplies last, with 100% of net profits benefiting the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada®.
“As a brand founded by firefighters, honouring those who answer the call is at the heart of everything we do,” said Mike Hancock, President of Firehouse Subs. “Our K-9 Crew celebrates the remarkable four-legged heroes who serve alongside first responders every day, giving our guests a fun and meaningful way to recognize their service while supporting the communities they protect.”
From search and rescue to fire safety education and law enforcement, meet the real-life K-9 heroes behind the collection:
- K-9 Stone | Golden Retriever | Search & Rescue Hero: A highly trained search-and-rescue K-9, Stone has responded to major disasters nationwide, including the Surfside condominium collapse, helping locate people in critical situations.
- K-9 Ember | Dalmatian | Community Hero: Serving alongside the Sevierville Fire Department in Tennessee, Ember helps educate the community about fire safety and serves as a beloved four-legged ambassador.
- K-9 Echo | German Shepherd | Police K-9 Hero: Since joining the Sartell Police Department in Minnesota in 2023 through a Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation grant, Echo has helped locate missing people and detect potential threats, demonstrating the lifesaving impact of supporting first responders.
“Behind every K-9 Crew pup is a real hero making a difference in their community,” said Robin Peters, Executive Director of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada. “Stone’s story is a powerful reminder of the critical role K-9s play in search-and-rescue efforts across the country. These K-9 heroes often put themselves in harm’s way to help save lives. Through this collection, guests can help us continue providing lifesaving resources to first responders and public safety organizations across North America.”
In addition to the K-9 Crew collection, Firehouse Subs is giving guests another way to support first responders on October 28, with 100% of every Hook & Ladder® purchase (excl. taxes)** benefiting the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada. A menu staple since the brand’s founding in 1994, the Hook & Ladder features smoked turkey breast, honey ham and melted Monterey Jack cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo and deli mustard on a toasted sub roll.
The K-9 Crew collection and one-day Hook & Ladder fundraiser build on the Firehouse Subs brand’s year-round commitment to supporting first responders. Since its inception in 2015, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation of Canada has awarded more than $7 million in lifesaving equipment and resources to first responders and public safety organizations throughout Canada.
