Vancouver’s Mobify adds Chief Marketing Officer and VP of Sales

MobifyVancouver-based mobile commerce and engagement platform developer Mobify has announced the hiring of Cliff Conneighton as its chief marketing officer and Alex Bullock as vice-president of sales for the Americas, to help Mobify its sales, product marketing, business development and outbound marketing globally.

“We’re exceptionally lucky to have attracted two highly sought-after sales and marketing pros who not only understand the challenges customers face in leveraging multiple channels to grow revenue but have vast experience launching innovative new technologies in fast-paced markets — and have worked closely together in past roles,” said Mobify CEO Igor Faletski.

Conneighton has most recently served as senior vice president of marketing at hybris, an SAP company that specializes in commerce and customer engagement software, leading it to number-one global market share.

Bullock also held various leadership positions with hybris, while the company grew from 100 employees to 1,000 before being acquired by SAP. In his final role at hybris, as vice president of general business for SAP’s Customer Engagement and Commerce line, he focused on SAP’s customers that $1 billion or less annual revenue.

Mobify’s clients include Ann Taylor, Crocs, Carnival Cruises, Bosch, Superdry, Eddie Bauer, Tommy Bahama and Beyond the Rack.

Beyond the Rack recently beta tested Mobify’s form of retail push-notification messaging, called Web Engagement Messaging, which allows retailers to send a push notification to customers, even if they don’t have the retailer’s app installed on their mobile device.

This new engagement platform so far only works on Google’s Chrome browser, but will eventually integrate with a similar technology employed by Apple’s Safari browser.

In 2012, when Beyond the Rack started working with Mobify, their shopper conversion rate was dropping due to the fact that their mobile commerce offering had not kept pace with the rate of change. Mobify’s involvement with the company saw its mobile sales quadruple.

In 2013, Mobify ranked highest among all vendors in Forrester’s end-of-year Mobile Commerce Solution Providers report.
