$2,000,000 – Joy and jubilation for two mother-in-law/daughter-in-law duos from Outaouais
MONTRÉAL, July 9, 2026 /CNW/ – Winners from the Outaouais region have taken home two $1,000,000 prizes in the past few weeks. On June 12, Pauline Lafontaine Gravelle came forward to claim the $1,000,000 grand prize she won in the Extra draw. Just over a week later, Paulette Sarrazin Dumoulin and Liliana Angelovici claimed their $1,000,000 Lotto 6/49 prize. Pauline and Paulette’s stories share one thing in common: their daughters-in-law played a key role.
A winning partnership
- Paulette Sarrazin Dumoulin and her daughter-in-law, Liliana Angelovici, have been playing the lottery together for a number of years. Paulette purchased their Lotto 6/49 ticket for the June 20 draw.
- The day before the draw, Liliana was talking with her mother-in-law about her future retirement. Little did she know that a lottery win would allow her to retire sooner than expected.
- When Paulette checked their ticket, she immediately called Liliana to tell her they had won $1,000,000. Shocked, Liliana could only say, “No!”
- Both winners plan to retire, and Paulette also intends to take a family trip to the Bas-Saint-Laurent region.
- The winning ticket was purchased at the Bowman convenience store at 32 Chemin de la Lièvre Nord in Bowman, in the Papineau RCM. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
Her daughter-in-law tells her she’s a millionaire
- Pauline Lafontaine Gravelle buys lottery tickets from time to time.
- When checking her Lotto Max ticket with Extra at a grocery store, she initially thought she had won $1,000 and was delighted by the nice surprise.
- Pauline’s daughter-in-law then checked the ticket using the Loto-Québec app and told her, “You didn’t win $1,000–you won a million!”
- With a prize 1,000 times bigger than she had expected, Pauline plans to spoil her children and travel to Ireland.
- The winning ticket was purchased at the O Pano 105 convenience store at 428 Route 105 in Bois-Franc, in the La Vallée-de-la-Gatineau RCM. The retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
