Hybrid Power Solutions (Hybrid Power Solutions Stock Quote, Chart, News, Analysts, Financials CSE:HPSS) founder and CEO Francois Byrne says the company’s portable, fuel-free power systems are gaining traction with major industrial and defence customers as the firm moves from early deployments into higher-volume commercial adoption.

Byrne told Ticker Take host Jon Erlichman that the Toronto-area company is entering a rapid-growth phase following years of proof-of-concept work with large contractors and military organizations. He spoke with Erlichman during the 2025 Cantech Investment Conference in Toronto on October 9.

Etobicoke-based Hybrid Power Solutions, founded in 2015, produces patent-pending portable battery systems and customized energy units for industrial sectors including mining, construction, railway and military applications. Byrne said the company’s core line consists of fuel-free and hybrid generators designed to lower operational costs in mission-critical environments.

“Then we’re talking about, you know, limited logistics, capable of recharging drones and other military pieces of equipment,” he said.

Byrne noted that his background in renewable energy and hybrid race-car engineering pushed him toward replacing or augmenting traditional diesel and gasoline generators across heavy-use industries.

He said Hybrid focuses on improving efficiency, which in turn reduces client operating expenses.

“The side effect of all of this is that we have lower CO2 emissions,” he said. “So for people who that is important to, we have a quantifiable metric that we can provide them to lower their CO2 and greenhouse gas emissions.”

Byrne said the company is now scaling with some of the world’s largest general contractors and military groups, transitioning from “small volume” deployments to broader adoption. After several years of validation in the field, he said demand is rising as customers place larger orders.

He said that innovation remains central to the company’s strategy and expects new technologies and significant customer partnerships. “Large customers, large partnerships,” he said. “Get our name out there, really get that product just spread throughout the world and get those sales going.”
