Canadian blockchain and fintech solutions company Liquid Avatar Technologies (Liquid Avatar Technologies Stock Quote, Charts, News, Analysts, Financials CSE:LQID) is moving the metaverse another step along in its evolution with the Grand Opening of the Oasis Digital Gallery, an extended reality and immersive web experience billed as one of the first if not the first art galleries in the metaverse.
“The Oasis Digital Gallery is poised to be one of the signature destinations in the metaverse and we’re excited to bring such great art to a wider audience,” said David Lucatch, CEO Liquid Avatar Technologies, in a Tuesday press release.
Launching with an exhibition by pop culture artist Lynn Mara entitled Barcode Ponies, the Oasis Digital Gallery will feature 255 pieces on sale in a virtual 3D experience, where visitors can walk through the virtual gallery and view the digital representations. Artwork will be on sale as NFTs (non-fungible tokens).
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have an artist of Lynn Mara’s calibre to kick off the Grand Opening of the Oasis Digital Gallery. Her work is bold, colourful and iconic and we’re proud to partner with her for this exhibition,” Lucatch said.
Toronto-based Liquid Avatar Technologies is a digital identity company with a platform for people to create high-quality digital icons for verification and identity credentials, developed using blockchain and open standards technologies. The company has also launched a payment card in the US called LQID CARD. Through its subsidiary Oasis Digital Studios, Liquid Avatar is 50 per cent owner of Aftermath Islands Metaverse Limited, creators of the Aftermath Islands virtual world. Aftermath users buy, sell and trade virtual assets including buildings, transport and other NFTs in a virtual economy.
The metaverse is getting more crowded these days with companies from all walks of life making moves in the virtual space. In the past week, we’ve learned the Coachella music festival is going meta this year through sponsor Absolut Vodka, while Epic Games has teamed up with the Lego family to develop a “family-friendly” metaverse for kids.
Liquid Avatar says the Oasis Digital Gallery has been built to host galas, corporate and social gatherings and has booked other art events for the space in the future.
“Liquid Avatar Technologies is a proven leader in the Metaverse, developing Aftermath Islands, associated themed islands and utilitarian NFTS, customizable 3D Meta Avatars as part of the Meta Hero Project, verifiable credential-backed digital identity, and partnering with Game Credits for the first-ever Multiverse Collective, a collaborative effort that will allow interoperability between two or more Metaverses,” the company said in its press release.
Disclosure: Liquid Avatar Technologies is an annual sponsor of Cantech Letter.
