The Next 36 entrepreneurship development program opens 2016 application

NextFoundersThe Next 36, a program for mentoring and developing young entrepreneurs has opened applications for the 2016 edition of The Next Founders, designed to provide a group of 20 early stage venture founders with a peer group, combined with mentorship from a network of advisors, investors and established entrepreneurs.
The customizable program is designed to work with entrepreneurs’ schedules.
The recruitment tour will see a series of events delivered in partnership with Communitech, Rotman Creative Destruction Lab, Real Ventures and Shopify.
“The Next Founders responds to the clear need that many science and tech entrepreneurs have for business skills and relationships”, says Next 36 managing director Peter Carrescia.
The program is comprised of a core of 16 hours of masters-level sessions taught by faculty from The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, Harvard Business School and MIT, supplemented by dozens of optional classes and startup workshops.
Participants will be invited to networking and pitch events attended by The Next 36 community of over 250 entrepreneurs and investors.
Next Founders alumni include Nymi, OTI Lumionics, Eve Medical and Sampler.
The Next 36 claims that its graduates have created over 310 jobs in Canada.
The three-month program prioritizes development, mentorship, networking, in-kind services such as co-working space, and events.
There is no cost associated with participating, and the program will claim no equity stake in graduates’ businesses.
Applicants will have to provide information about themselves, their co-founders and venture in a short written application and video interview.
The application deadline closes on March 3, with the program set to begin April 15 in Toronto.
Several application info meet-ups will be held, in Toronto on February 2nd, from 6:00pm-8:00pm, at Shopify, 80 Spadina Avenue, in Toronto, and the second on February 11th, from 5:30pm-7:30pm, at the Communitech Hub, 151 Charles St W, Kitchener, Ontario.
Meet-ups will also be held on February 8 at 6:00 pm, at RBC WaterPark Place Auditorium, 88 Queen’s Quay West, Toronto and at Startup Drinks Montreal, at Brutopia, 1219 Rue Crescent, on January 27, 6:00 pm-9:00 pm.
