MEDIA ADVISORY – Ajax Casino and Pickering Casino Resort workers begin strike

TORONTO, July 31, 2026 /CNW/ — Unifor Local 1090 members at Ajax Casino and Pickering Casino Resort began strike action at 12:01 a.m. July 31, 2026, after negotiations with the employer failed to produce a fair contract for nearly 900 gaming workers.

“Our members at Ajax Casino and Pickering Casino Resort have made it clear they are prepared to walk the picket line to get a fair deal,” said Unifor National President Lana Payne. “These workers kept the resort running through difficult years, and all they are asking for is fair wages and job security.”
