SHEARWATER, NS, Aug. 8, 2025 /CNW/ – Parks Canada will host a special ceremony to recognize Lieutenant-General (Retired) Larry Ashley as a Hometown Hero, celebrating his pioneering role in the Canadian naval aviation, his distinguished leadership in both the Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force, and his lasting impact on the aerospace industry in Canada. This recognition reflects Parks Canada’s ongoing commitment to preserving and sharing the stories of individuals whose remarkable contributions have shaped the cultural fabric and heritage of our country.

The Honourable David J. McGuinty, Minister of National Defence, and the Honourable Darren Fisher, Member of Parliament for Dartmouth–Cole Harbour, will attend on behalf of the Honourable Steven Guilbeault, Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages, along with Ron Hallman, President & Chief Executive Officer for Parks Canada.
