Black Swan Dexteritas president and portfolio manager Kim Bolton says IBM (IBM Stock Quote, Chart, News, Analysts, Financials NYSE:IBM) remains attractive despite a recent execution misstep, citing its exposure to AI and quantum computing.

Speaking on BNN Bloomberg’s Market Call on June 10, Bolton said IBM may sound “a bit boring,” but the company has exposure to several key technology themes.

“They’re big into AI, they’re huge into quantum,” Bolton said. “So they check all the boxes.”

Bolton said IBM’s most recent earnings, released April 22, included “a bit of an execution slip-up,” but Black Swan Dexteritas still holds a full position in the stock at about 4.5% of the portfolio.

“Buy it here,” he said. “Add to it next third would be down around 270, and then down at 255.”

The stock was up 1.14% over the previous 12 months. Of the analysts covering the stock, 15 rated it “Buy,” seven rated it “Hold” and one rated it “Sell,” with a consensus target of US$298.18.
