Those who discover the ease of use and call clarity of BlackBerry’s BBM Voice might not see much use for it, but Skype is finally rolling out for BlackBerry 10 devices.

And no, it’s not a sideloaded Android port, although it is just a preview version of the Microsoft owned VOIP software.

On the Skype blog this morning, the company’s Linda Summers announced that BlackBerry users who have downloaded the latest 10.1 update for BlackBerry will be able to download Skype, allowing them to make free video and voice calls and text message other Skype users.

Skype says this version will integrate tightly with BlackBerry user’s phone book and BlackBerry Hub.

“Remember this release is still in preview version,” writes Summers. We will continue working with BlackBerry over the next months to refine the performance of the Skype app. So keep an eye for any new Skype updates on BlackBerry World for your device!”

Skype was one of the key apps many felt were missing for BlackBerry devices, the other notable exceptions being Instagram, Spotify, Pandora, and Netflix.
