Statement – Death of an inmate at the Regional Reception Centre

SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QC, Dec. 11, 2025 /CNW/ – On December 7, 2025, Robert Grimmel, an inmate from the Regional Reception Centre, died while in our custody of apparent natural causes. 

At the time of death, the inmate was 77 years old and had been serving a three years and four months sentence, which commenced on October 28, 2025.

The inmate’s next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada (CSC) will review the circumstances.

CSC policy requires that the police and the coroner be notified.
