Higher education institutions are invited to join the challenge with a $10,000 cash prize to inspire sustainable habits among college students

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 22, 2026 /CNW/ — Reusables.com, a leading operating system for reusable container programs at universities across North America, has launched the Use-Twice Campaign, a bold initiative to inspire students, faculty, and staff to experience reuse firsthand and build habits that last.

The launch comes at a milestone moment for Reusables. Since the start of 2026, the company has doubled the number of university campuses it serves, a reflection of growing institutional demand for reuse infrastructure that actually delivers results. Central to that growth is Tap-to-Reuse™, Reusables’ patented technology that makes borrowing and returning containers as simple as tapping a phone or card. By removing the friction that has historically prevented reusable programs from scaling, Reusables has made it possible for universities to move beyond pilot programs and operate reuse at real campus scale.

Single-use packaging remains one of the most persistent waste challenges on university campuses, and the Use-Twice Campaign is designed to lower the barrier to change. The campaign challenges participants to use Reusables at least twice, an action that is deposit-free, signup-free, and stress-free, with one lucky winner receiving a $10,000 cash prize.

“At Reusables.com, we’re not just talking about reducing waste — we’re putting the systems in place to make it happen,” said Jasper Law, Product Lead. “We’re offering this student engagement program to get people excited and interested in reuse. Our long-term goal is for this to create a lasting habit — two uses can become twenty, and twenty can become the default.”

Reuse is gaining serious momentum across the higher education sector. Universities are increasingly being held accountable (by students, accreditation bodies, and their own sustainability commitments) to deliver measurable progress on waste reduction. Reusables is meeting that demand with infrastructure that works: a frictionless borrowing experience, real-time container tracking, and program management tools that make it straightforward for dining teams to operate reuse at scale. Doubling campus partnerships in under a year is evidence that the model is working.

The campaign is open to all participating higher education institutions partnered with Reusables.com. Participants are automatically entered into the prize draw when they borrow and return a reusable container two times. They simply need to add a contact method in the Reusables app so the team can reach the lucky winner, or alternatively they can enter online at www.reusables.com/use-twice. The draw is open for the duration of the campaign across all partner campuses, with a single winner selected at random.
