Following its TIFF and VIFF premieres, the documentary heads to theatres across Canada

VANCOUVER, BC, Oct. 9, 2026 /CNW/ — Network Media Group Inc. and Network Entertainment Inc. (TSXV: NTE) (OTC: NETWF) (“Network” or the “Company”) are pleased to announce that Man In Motion: The Rick Hansen Story was honoured with gala premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF).

The film premiered at TIFF on September 11, where it received an honourable mention for Best Canadian Feature Film, followed by a hometown screening at VIFF on October 3 at the Vancouver Playhouse.

Adrian Buitenhuis directed the film, which was produced by Derik Murray and Ryan Reynolds, in association with Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort.

“We were thrilled to share the film with audiences at both TIFF and VIFF and were incredibly gratified by the response,” said Derik Murray, Founder and CEO of Network Entertainment. “These festivals were the ideal venues to showcase the film and motivate potential global distribution opportunities.”

The film draws on rare archival footage, original interviews and Rick Hansen’s personal audio recordings to reveal the story behind one of the most remarkable athletic achievements in history. Rick Hansen, paralyzed from the waist down after a car accident, wheeled around the world to raise money and awareness for spinal cord research. The Man In Motion World Tour began in Vancouver on March 21, 1985, when Hansen was 27, and took him and his small team more than 40,000 kilometres through 34 countries over 26 months.

The Tour raised more than $26 million for spinal cord injury research and accessibility initiatives, helping to change perceptions of people with disabilities and build momentum for a more accessible and inclusive world.

The Rick Hansen Foundation, established in 1988 following the Tour, has continued this work, raising more than $435 million and advancing initiatives focused on improving accessibility and removing barriers for people with disabilities.

About the Rick Hansen Foundation
