FP Canada™ Honours Four Award Recipients for Contributions to the Financial Planning Profession

TORONTO, Sept. 23, 2026 /CNW/ — FP Canada today announces the 2026 recipients of three prestigious awards and distinctions. Nathalie Bachand and Caroline Dabu have been honoured with the FP Canada Award of Distinction; Tanya Staples, CFP®, with the FP Canada™ Fellow Distinction; and Alysha Tse, CFP, with the FP Canada Emerging Leader Award.

The FP Canada Award of Distinction

The FP Canada Award of Distinction honours individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the profession and who don’t hold CFP certification or QAFP® certification. This year’s recipients are Nathalie Bachand and Caroline Dabu.

Based in Montréal , Québec, Ms. Bachand is President of Bachand Lafleur Groupe-conseil inc. A recipient of Fellow distinction from the Institute of Financial Planning, she’s made significant contributions to the profession through volunteer leadership roles, including as a director of the Institute of Financial Planning and as a member of the FP Canada Standards Council™ Standards Panel.

Based in Toronto, Ontario, Ms. Dabu is Principal at VSGS Advisory Services Inc., and she previously held a variety of senior leadership positions at BMO Financial Group. She has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to advancing financial planning through volunteerism and currently serves as Chair of the Board of the Financial Planning Standards Board.

The FP Canada Fellow Distinction

The FP Canada Fellow Distinction is an esteemed honour recognizing Certified Financial Planner® professionals, Qualified Associate Financial Planner™ professionals, and FP Retired™ status holders who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of professional financial planning. This year’s recipient is Tanya Staples, CFP.

Based in Kitchener, Ontario, Ms. Staples is a Professor of Financial Planning at Conestoga College and a well-respected researcher. She’s volunteered extensively with FP Canada through committees and task forces. In addition, she’s held volunteer leadership roles with other organizations, including the Canadian Foundation for Financial Planning™, where she serves as a board member.

The FP Canada Emerging Leader Award

The Emerging Leader Award recognizes CFP professionals and QAFP professionals under 40 who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and innovation within the profession, as well as a passion for giving back through volunteerism.

This year’s recipient is Alysha Tse, CFP. Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Ms. Tse is a Wealth Advisor and Portfolio Manager at Chernick James Tse & Associates Wealth Counsel. She’s contributed extensively to the profession through volunteer service, including as a board member for STEP Vancouver (the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and the Financial Planning Association of Canada.

FP Canada is pleased to recognize this accomplished group of professionals for their outstanding contributions to the financial planning profession. All award recipients were honoured at an award ceremony in September.
