nVent Electric is a buy, this analyst says
Roth Capital Partners analyst Justin Clare raised his price target on nVent Electric (nVent Electric Stock Quote, Chart, News, Analysts, Financials NYSE:NVT) to US $210.00 from $195.00 and reiterated a “Buy” rating after the company agreed to acquire Maverick Power for US$1.75-billion in cash, plus up to US$550-million in contingent consideration.
In an Aug. 25 report, Clare said the deal looks attractive on valuation, growth and strategic fit, particularly given Maverick’s heavy exposure to data centres.
nVent is paying roughly 11.5 times 2026 Adjusted EBITDA for Maverick, or about 10.5 times after expected tax benefits, compared with nVent’s own valuation of about 21.1 times 2026 Adjusted EBITDA.
“We view NVT’s Maverick Power acquisition positively on valuation, growth, and strategic fit,” Clare said.
Maverick, based in McKinney, Texas, supplies low- and medium-voltage switchgear, switchboards and modular power systems. It has about 900 employees and is expected to generate roughly US$700-million in revenue in 2026.
Clare said the acquisition moves nVent further into the data-centre power chain, adding power distribution capabilities to its existing connection, protection, enclosure and liquid-cooling products.
“The acquisition moves NVT further up the data center power stack,” he said.
The deal is expected to increase nVent’s pro forma data-centre exposure to about 44% of 2026 sales, or roughly US$2.7-billion, from about 37% on a standalone basis.
Clare also sees significant growth potential at Maverick after the company nearly quadrupled its manufacturing footprint to about 1.35-million square feet and outlined plans for roughly 2,000 additional hires.
“We believe Maverick is early in a significant capacity ramp, supporting strong growth potential through 2027 and 2028,” he said.
Roth raised its 2027 revenue forecast for nVent to US$7.28-billion from US$6.43-billion and its 2028 forecast to US$8.41-billion from US$7.33-billion. Adjusted EPS estimates increased to US$6.78 from US$6.32 for 2027 and US$8.12 from US$7.39 for 2028.
Clare said the deal should also push nVent well beyond the inorganic growth contribution contemplated in its existing 2028 targets, while the large performance-based earnout suggests Maverick could deliver a meaningful step-up in revenue and earnings over the next two years.
