Will OpenAI go public? Stranger things have happened but it seems unlikely.

According to a 2023 article in The Motley Fool, management says it’s not in the cards.

“In June 2023, OpenAI CEO and co-founder Sam Altman said that his company has no plans to conduct an IPO,” the article said. “That likely won’t change while he’s running the company. While the company briefly fired him in late 2023, he quickly rejoined OpenAI after a firestorm of criticism.

In another article in CCN he sounded even more reticent.

““I don’t want to be sued by … public market, Wall Street, etc, so no, not that interested,” Altman said.
