Toronto custom software studio TWG acquires mobile company B House

Toronto custom software studio TWG has announced that it has acquired Toronto-based mobile development company B House, a move that supports TWG’s strategy to offer digital transformation initiatives to enterprise clients through a specialization in Lean Product Management, Human Centered Design and Agile Development.
TWG has doubled in size in the past two years, and now counts its total team size at 85 following the B House deal, which is TWG’s first acquisition.
TWG also plans to open a New York City office early in 2017 to expand its international presence.
“B House’s obsession with product quality and software craftsmanship resonates strongly at TWG, giving us immediate confidence that this will be a long-term success for us and our clients,” said TWG Managing Partner, Andrés Aquino. “We aspire to build the most elite mobile shop in North America, and we’re proud to welcome B House into the fold as we continue to grow our reputation for mobile product development.”
Founded in 2002, TWG’s client base includes Wealthsimple, FreshBooks, The Globe and Mail, and RBC, as well as not-for profit organizations, governments, and various startups, launching more than 130 products built in collaboration with its clients.
TWG’s recently expanded nearly 20,000 square foot Toronto office space also houses seed fund and startup accelerator 500 Startups, as well as Sampler, and portfolio company Nudge Rewards, and will soon be filled with new staff arriving from B House.
TWG engages clients in its lean product strategy, helping customers to market and define a product that stands the best possible chance in the difficult and crowded digital marketplace, with a focus on human-centred design and testing applications built through an agile process.
“We could not be more thrilled to join TWG,” said B House co-founder Megha Bambra. “We get to continue building world class mobile software for our customers, alongside a very smart bunch of peers, on a much larger platform.”
Megha and Satraj Bambra founded B House in 2014, and helped companies as diverse as BlogTO, Sensibill, and visual search company Slyce to create mobile apps, SDKs and platforms.
“This expansion increases our capacity to deliver outstanding mobile work for our clients and allows us to further focus on teaching organizations the best ways to utilize software,” said TWG Managing Partner Chris Eben.
TWG partnered with TechGirls Canada last year, increasing the ratio of female staff working for the company from 15.5% in 2015 to 30% today.
While TWG began developing internet based software, its offering has diversified as the web has evolved, increasing to include mobile development, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and chatbots on a custom basis for its client base.
TWG developed the Globe & Mail’s iWatch app, and acted as consultant for RBC Wealth Management’s mobile technology strategy for how to improve its client-advisor relationship.
In 2015, TWG teamed up with TSN to design and develop a longform piece of interactive content about Brazilian street soccer called Favela United, as well as a custom CMS dedicated to longform content, called UNITED, to support TSN’s editorial initiatives.
