Huge Virtual Reality, 3D conference coming to Toronto in October

Immersed 2016, a conference staged by the Immersive Technology Alliance and aimed at professionals working in the virtual reality, augmented reality, stereoscopic 3D, and holography industries, will take place at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto from October 16-18.
The Immersed 2016 conference will provide a showcase for product vendors wanting to show off their video game, immersive cinema, immersive experience, education, medicine, broadcasting, and industry products for an audience of thousands of customers specializing in the VR field.
Historically, the conference has been very popular with developers and industry insiders, but this year all Ontario Science Centre ticket holders and members will qualify for free entrance, opening exhibitors up to a general audience consisting of the 3,000 to 5,000 daily visitors to the museum.
California-based multinational semiconductor company AMD (Advanced Micro Devices) will present an “immersed” opening keynote.
“The tech industry is moving at a record pace to build the VR/AR ecosystem, and AMD is very excited to see the leadership role that the ITA delivers by bringing together influential leaders from across this industry to valuable growth markets,” said AMD Director and Worldwide Head of Virtual Reality & Displays, Radeon Technology Group, Daryl Sartain. “Immersed 2016 is a cornerstone event for networking, learning, and helping build the immersive technology marketplace.”
The Immersive Technology Alliance is an Ontario-based non-profit corporation, originally founded in 2009 as the Stereoscopic 3D Gaming Alliance, and promotes itself as the official voice and industry body for immersive technologies like augmented reality, virtual reality, stereoscopic 3D, gesture technology, 360-degree immersive cinema, and associated technologies.
So far the Immersed 2016 speaker list includes representatives from Autodesk, SideFX Software, InMediaStudio, Building Conversation, Archiact, Frima Studio, Christie Digital, Futuremark, Immersion Arcade, Canadian Film Centre, MorrowSound, and more.
The conference is a strategic partnership between the ITA and the Ontario Science Centre, and will take place in a special exhibition space the Ontario Science Centre, up to 20,000 square feet in size.
“Together with the Ontario Science Centre, we are building a full-fledged industry-building conference and showcase for professionals, and a separate 20,000 square foot exhibition and education series for the general public,” said ITA Executive Director, Neil Schneider. “Professionals and industry will learn from top experts, entrepreneurs will build new relationships, and vendors will excite thousands of consumers with amazing technology and teach the science that goes into it.”
