Accedian Networks takes Best Mobile Technology Enabler award in Barcelona

AccedianMontreal software-defined network (SDN) service provider, and performance assurance solution vendor for mobile backhaul & small cells, Accedian Networks have won the “Best Mobile Technology Enabler” award at the Global Mobile Awards ceremony at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
Up against a strong field of international nominees with over 930 entrants, Accedian won for its work with South Korea’s SK Telecom, providing what’s described as the “central nervous system” for the delivery of exceptional user experience over LTE and 5G networks.
“We’re delighted to win this prestigious award, judged by some of the industry’s most influential leaders and analysts. This award underlines our position as a market leading provider of virtualised network performance assurance solutions. But more importantly, it’s a fantastic validation of the value that we’re able to bring to our operator and service provider customers,” said Accedian CEO Patrick Ostiguy. “This award gives continued validation and confidence that we can continue to deliver significant contributions to service providers who are using quality of experience to differentiate their customer offerings.”
Accedian only began deploying its software-defined network technology across the SK Telecom mobile network last July, during which time it has become one of the world’s few large-scale commercial SDNs, encompassing 12,000 locations across six of South Korea’s largest cities, with an eye towards eventually covering all sites for over 28 million mobile subscribers.
Using network field virtualization (NFV)-based performance assurance modules, Accedian collects precise network performance indicators in real time, driving efficiencies and reducing network complexity, while creating new revenue-generating services through the deployment of a fully automated network that optimizes user experience.
“SK Telecom is honoured to receive this prestigious award as it highlights our commitment to improving customers’ mobile experience through virtualized network monitoring solutions,” said SK Telecom Executive Vice President and Head of Infra Division Lee Jong-bong. “In collaboration with Accedian, the solution was developed and applied to our commercial network to play an important role in providing our customers with the best mobile experience. Our efforts will continue to develop more innovative network technologies and solutions to further enhance network performance and quality for our customers.”
Accedian announced last week that it grew its sales by 25% in 2015 and added 75 employees to its global workforce, through major deals with Telefonica, SK Telecom, T-Mobile and Cox Business.
