“If you already know how to use Excel, why would you replace Excel?”

Vena Solutions presented at StableView’s Asset Management‘s Tech14 Conference this morning in Toronto and talked about how the company thinks corporations shouldn’t throw out the baby with the bathwater when looking at enterprise solutions.

CEO Don Mal and CFO Darrell Cox talked about the big problem for users of Excel, whose users number more than a half-billion. Mal says Vena brings them into the cloud, offering a solution that is collaborative and powerful for any spreadsheet intensive process.

It’s not a solution that sits on top of Excel, says Mal. “Vena has real Excel user interface”.

Enterprise clients are listening. Vena’s roster of believers includes Home Depot, Deloitte, Morgan Stanley and Marks & Spencer.

Mal says Vena allows its clients to access the cloud is a controlled manner by mapping data into a powerful database and color-coding all changes. The Vena CEO says the company has found auditors love it because they can actually be part of the workflow.

Mississauga-based Vena was founded in 2011. The company has since extended it reach into verticals such as budgeting and planning, forecasting, analytics and disclosure management.
