The New York Times raves about the BlackBerry Q10

After praising the BlackBerry Z10 as “ingenious” and “mind-blowing” the New York Times influential tech writer David Pogue is raving about the Q10, the BlackBerry 10 iteration with the physical keyboard.

In a review called “Typing, Made Easy” Pogue says the Q10’s keyboard is a marvel.

“After so many years of fussing with typing on glass and making fidgety corrections, it really is sweet to have real keys,” says Pogue. “I’ll come right out and say it: no phone on the market offers a better combination of speed and accuracy for entering text.”

Pogue says that while he’s not sure if the Z10 is enough to save the struggling BlackBerry, he says the Q10 offers real differentiation.

“…there are thousands of people who use a smartphone mostly for e-mail, texts and typing — thousands who’ve been waiting for a physical keyboard on a modern smartphone. If the screen-space trade-off is worth it to you, and if you don’t mind betting on an underdog, you’ll find no better keyboarded phone than the BlackBerry Q10.”

The BlackBerry Q10 is now on sale at Selfridges in London before a wider U.K. release on April 28th. The device will be available in Canada through carriers such as Bell, Fido and Rogers on April 30th. The release date in the United States is still unclear, but T-Mobile has now announced pre-orders for business customers will be available from April 29th.
