Third person dies from Sherbrooke explosion, Neptune to hold presser

The company also reiterated its condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

Neptune COO Michael Chartrand will address the media at the Delta Hotel in Sherbrooke tomorrow at 1:30 PM EST.

This morning it was revealed that a third person, Marc Couture, died from the effects of Thursday’s explosion. Couture had been in a medically induced coma after suffering burns to more than 90% of his body.

At the Quebec manufacturing facility Neptune Technologies manufactures Krill oil. Krill are shrimplike crustaceans that are the primary food source of marine life such as salmon, whales and rockfish. The company was planning an expansion at the plant that would have increased production capacity to 300 metric tonnes by the fourth quarter of fiscal 2013, and then to 500 metric tonnes by Q4, 2014.
