RentMoola wins Start-Up of the Year at Kelowna's Metabridge conference

Vancouver’s RentMoola, a platform that allows tenants and landlords to pay and accept rent payments electronically, has won Start-Up of the Year at the eighth annual Metabridge tech networking retreat in Kelowna, British Columbia.
Fifteen start-ups were selected by Metabridge, which is supported by the Accelerate Okanagan resource hub, from an application pool of over 100 tech companies.
Non-profit Metabridge provides companies with networking opportunities and one-to-one meeting time with VIPs, investors, mentors and major venture capitalist firms from Silicon Valley and around the world, including Google, AngelList and OMERS Ventures.
“We had an overwhelming response to Metabridge this year,” said Metabridge Executive Director, Sehra Bremner. “109 companies applied, which is more than ever before. We are really pleased with the strength of all the companies that took the time to apply.”
VIPs and speakers at the 2016 Metabridge event included Google X product manager Mike McCauley, iNovia Capital partner Shawn Abbott, Next Big Thing founder Meredith J. Powell, and Silicon Valley Bank market manager Minh Le.
Start-ups that have participated in Metabridge, including MediaCore, SqueezeCMM and Hurrier, have gone on to raise Series A funds or been acquired.
Last July, RentMoola was one of three companies graduating from the BC Tech Association’s (formerly known as the BC Technology Industry Association) first HyperGrowth accelerator cohort.
