Farm At Hand co-founders step away from company

The co-founders of Saskatoon-based farm management app company Farm At Hand, Himanshu Singh and Kim Keller, are stepping away from the company they created, effective March 31.
In November, Farm At Hand merged with Winnipeg’s FarmLink Marketing Solutions, a grain marketing service focused on consulting, analysis and direct selling opportunities to individual farmers.
At that time, Keller wrote, “With FarmLink we gain new relationships and expertise, allowing Farm At Hand to truly become the platform for agriculture, from seed to sale.”
In an email to users yesterday, they wrote, “It is with heavy hearts I tell you that Himanshu and I are leaving the company we co-founded: Farm At Hand. Our last official day as part of the team will be March 31, 2016.”
On her Twitter feed, Keller described it as “One of the hardest decisions we have ever made.”

Founded in 2012, the company had seven employees before the FarmLink merger, and its app is used by more than 20,000 farmers.
Farm At Hand had raised $1.4 million on its own, and had plans to develop a paid version aimed more at agribusiness than at individual farmers, who have been using the app for free.
Keller was born and raised on a farm near Melfort, Saskatchewan, while Singh had previously worked with Quintapps Software Solutions Inc. before co-founding Farm At Hand.
Keller and Singh plan to remain active with their #hereforfarmers campaign, calling attention to mental health issues among farmers, a cause for which they have raised over $13,000 to give to the Saskatchewan Farm Stress Line by selling T-shirts printed with pro-farmer slogans.
