BluMetric Environmental lands two northern Ontario contracts totaling $8.3 million

Ottawa cleantech firm BluMetric Environmental Inc. (TSX-V: BLM) has landed two contracts in northern Ontario relating to groundwater and surface water monitoring, engineering and remedial services, valued in excess of $8.3 million.

One of the contracts, beginning January 1, 2016, is a five-year extension of a previously existing groundwater and surface water testing and management contract, for $7.3 million.

Data from this site, encompassing regulatory water monitoring and reporting, well sampling and maintenance, database support and QR coding, data analysis and reporting, and health and safety monitoring and reporting, will be incorporated into a GIS-based Environmental Information System developed by BluMetric.

“These contracts reflect the time and effort the BluMetric team has put into developing and enhancing key skill sets in order to meet the needs of clients with complex activities and multiple task requirements,” said BluMetric CEO Roger Woeller. “By working closely as partners, we can expand our service offerings while adding increasingly sophisticated, data-rich reporting, providing an integrated, client-centric program that adapts to their changing needs.”

The second contract for a water management project also in northern Ontario, is valued at $1 million, and begins immediately and runs until September 2016.

That contract is focused on water resources and civil engineering, as well as hydrogeology. The company will be conducting field investigations, drilling wells and boreholes, excavating test pits, sampling groundwater and surface water and conducting pumping tests, groundwater modelling, as well as designing water storage ponds, ditches, interception trenches, pumping stations, pipelines and wells for interception, collection, and storage of water prior to treatment.

Last year, BluMetric added a contract providing oil-water separators on the Panama Canal.
