Vancouver’s Aquatic Informatics moves from fixed to managed services with AQUARIUS Cloud

Vancouver’s Aquatic Informatics Inc. has made its AQUARIUS solution suite for water data management and analysis available as a service hosted in a private cloud.

This new Software-as-a-Service offering allows Aquatic Informatics customers to manage their data in the cloud, rather than on their own servers, allowing critical water data management and analysis to be accessible to environmental monitoring professionals.

No capital costs for hardware, software, or IT labour, means new customers reduce upfront expenses. Deployment, updates, and data backups are managed by Aquatic Informatics, while users gain fast access from a laptop or tablet.”

Customer groups for the growing field of environmental monitoring include federal, provincial/state and municipal governments, hydropower operators, mining companies, academics and researchers, and consultants, all of whom need to manage and process large volumes of data relating to water quantity and quality.

Compared with the previous software package, hosted on each user’s private server, the new cloud-based version promises security and privacy, hassle-free upgrades, remote access over a virtual private network, scalability, 99.9% uptime reliability, and pay-as-you-go packages available in monthly, annual or 3-year subscription terms, with upfront costs reduced depending on the package.

Aquatic Informatics has forged relationships with Environment Canada, Water Survey Canada, Manitoba Water Stewardship, Saskatchewan Watershed Authority, B.C. Environment, the University of British Columbia, and the Canadian National Research Council.

In the U.S., the company has provided water data management solutions for the US Geological Survey, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and the US National Parks Service, as well as over a dozen large state agencies and many regional and local organizations.

Internationally, they have worked with Southern Water of Australia, Tasmania Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment, Alcoa of Australia, the Principality of Monaco, the National Water Authority of Romania, the National Research Institute of Norway and many others.
