Calgary’s Convergent IS touts benefits of new platform at SAP TechEd conference

Calgary-based enterprise enablement firm Convergent IS has been presenting at the SAP TechEd conference from October 19-23 in Las Vegas, participating in various panels to describe its use of SAP’s S/4HANA platform, which the German multinational launched in February.

“With S/4 we’ve automated and streamlined our lead to cash, HR, supply chain, and finance processes with both a great UX and deep insights to our performance,” said Convergent IS Managing Partner Shaun Syvertsen. “With plans to continue our rapid growth we now have the confidence that our system will not just keep up with us, it’s providing the backbone for scale.”
With 30 employees based in two locations in Calgary as well as an office in Ottawa, Convergent IS was founded in 2002 to design and implement simple solutions for enterprises to help them unlock the added value locked in business complexities.

As Syvertsen describes, his company grew at a rate of 200% in the past year, moving in to two new countries, requiring him to deal with currency conversion and supply chain issues, which is a nice problem to have, although this growth ended up creating a new set of problems which he solved by tapping in to SAP’s enterprise platform.

“Using SAP S/4HANA with the SAP Simple Finance solution is like going from a tricycle for small-business accounting software to a race car,” said Syvertsen. “It will help Convergent continue our fast-paced growth and simplify our business processes.”

This comes on the heels of SAP announcing at the conference that it has now exceeded 1,300 customers using the S/4 platform to run their businesses.

“Exceeding 1,300 customers in only eight months validates that SAP S/4HANA is SAP’s biggest innovation since SAP R/3. Customers and partners have clearly understood the benefit of our new suite to reimagine business in today’s world,” said member of the Executive Board of SAP and president of Global Customer Operations Robert Enslin. “The digital transformation is now a reality across all industries and requires organizations to rethink business models, processes and IT landscapes by putting simplicity at the heart of everything they do. This is the value SAP S/4HANA as our digital core brings to help customers disrupt their industry and win in the digital economy.”

Described as “the next-generation business suite for the digital economy”, SAP’s platform offers enterprises a turnkey solution for managing their business operations in the cloud.

With SAP partners currently managing more than 80% of all projects on the S/4 platform and more than 1,000 reseller firms selling the platform, SAP has made great strides since February in helping companies like Convergent IS to simplify their processes.
