Victoria, B.C. Cloud-Based Booking Firm Checkfront Raises $1 Million

Victoria, B.C.-based Checkfront Inc., a provider of cloud-based booking solutions, has raised a $1 million initial round of funding, led by Metalogix co-founder Rasool Rayani and a group of entrepreneur-investors, including Hootsuite’s Geordie Henderson, Amazon’s Hannes Blum, MetaLab’s Andrew Wilkinson, Stocksy’s Bruce Livingstone, Neverblue’s David Arnsdorf, SendWithUs’ Matt Harris & Brad Van Vugt, Sparklit’s Rajiv Khaneja, RingPartner’s Todd Dunlop, Red Brick Media’s Tobyn Sowden, SilkStart’s Shaun Jamieson, TapStream’s Ben Fox, Metalogix’s Julien Sellgren, Western Foods’ Ed Low, Latitude Geographics’ Steven Myhill-Jones & David Stevenson, Chatterblock’s Randy Greencorn, and Checkfront Brandon Ellis.

Checkfront’s stated goal is “to take the hassle out of managing bookings and reservations online”.

“Customers who come to us have usually reached the point where using outdated software or pen and paper bookings is hurting their business,” says co-founder Jason Morehouse. “Overbookings, high administration and lost sales is a big pain point for operators — that means they can’t focus on running their business. What gets us up in the morning is knowing we have a solution to help them.”

Founded in 2010, Checkfront has grown organically through revenue until now, doubling its income year-over-year while processing over $350 million US in transactions, including integrations with partners including Xero, WordPress, Mailchimp, TripAdvisor, Quickbooks, and Stripe.

Checkfront currently has 20 employees. The funding will be used for hiring, pursuing strategic partnerships and accelerating growth.
