Amaya Gaming (TSX:AYA) was the big winner at the fourth annual Cantech Letter Awards in Toronto Thursday night.
After delivering the keynote at the Cantech Investment Conference, held the same day at the Metro Toronto Convention Center, Colonel Chris Hadfield stepped to the stage and announced that Amaya had beaten fellow nominees Avigilon and Redknee for the big award.
Moments earlier, Amaya Gaming CFO Daniel Sebag had accepted the award for TSX Tech Executive of the Year on behalf of CEO David Baazov, whose wife had just delivered a baby.
Amaya achieved the same feat last year in the TSX Venture Exchange categories. The company graduated to the TSX in 2013.
This year, the TSX Venture category was split; BSM Technologies (TSXV:GPS) took home TSXV Tech Stock of the Year, while Al Hildebrandt of QHR Technologies (TSXV:QHR) snagged the award for TSXV Tech Executive of the Year.
Two new categories were added to the Cantech Letter Awards this year; Pure Technologies (TSX:PUR) took home the inaugural TSX Cleantech Stock of the Year, while Paladin Labs (TSX:PLB) won TSX Life Sciences stock of the Year.
Winners of the 2013 Cantech Letter Awards rang the opening bell at the Toronto Stock Exchange this morning.
