Softchoice named one of Canada’s best places to work for 8th consecutive year

Softchoice was today named a Best Large Workplace in Canada by the Great Place to Work® Institute. The awards are handed out largely on the basis of employee feedback.

Softchoice (Softchoice Stock Quote, Chart, News: TSX:SO) is growing, but it doesn’t appear to be losing that small company charm.

The Toronto-based IT company was today named a Best Large Workplace in Canada by the Great Place to Work® Institute. The awards are handed out largely on the basis of employee feedback.

“We are committed to unleashing the potential of our people because it is our people who delight our customers and make Softchoice a truly great company,” said David MacDonald, President and CEO of Softchoice. “We think it is vital employees feel a sense of belonging and fulfillment, which is why we focus on promoting from within, and providing development programs that nurture well-rounded future leaders.”

Softchoice says it made 183 internal promotions in 2012, four of which were to vice president level positions in sales, services, finance and IT. The company now has more than 1200 employees.

Softchoice, which was founded in 1989, boasts more than 14,000 small and medium-sized business, enterprise and public sector customers across Canada and the United States. CEO MacDonald, who joined the company in 2001 after an eighteen year career at Xerox, helped transform the company from a software direct marketer to one of North America’s largest providers of technology solutions and services.

At press time, shares of SO were up 2.4% to $16.30.
