DHX Media to provide children’s programming to BlackBerry
Halifax-based children’s programmer DHX Media (DHX Media Stock Quote, Chart, News: TSX:DHX) today announced content partnerships with BlackBerry, the CBC and Berkshire Axis Media Distribution.
DHX says it will provide 1000 episodes of programming to BlackBerry, including titles such as Inspector Gadget and Sonic the Hedgehog.
DHX Senior VP of Distribution said Josh Scherba, SVP of Distribution at DHX Media, says the company is pursuing both traditional and new distribution platforms.
“Canada remains a key territory for DHX and it’s great that long-term partners such as the CBC continue to support our brands. We are also adapting to the changing trends in audience consumption securing deals with non-traditional outlets like BlackBerry® along with traditional home entertainment partners like BAM.”
Founded in 2006, DHX Media boasts a library of over 2,525 half-hours of film and television, including Animal Mechanicals, Rastamouse, Angela Anaconda and the hit Yo Gabba Gabba! The company has quietly become a leader in kids TV. DHX has signed more than 1,200 license deals with over 150 children’s networks worldwide, including the BBC, Cartoon Network, PBS, The Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. The company’s fiscal 2012 revenue of $72.7-million was up 31% from the $55.4-million topline the company posted a year prior.
Today’s deals come on the heels of recent content arrangements that DHX has made with Amazon and PBS.
