H20 Innovation, Destiny Media and Sandvine: Today in Canadian Tech

Sierra Wireless today unveiled its newest family of AirCard mobile hot spots for 4G LTE networks. The company says the new card offers several feature enhancements, including an improved user interface, longer battery life and expanded frequency band support across the product family.
Valeant Pharmaceuticals (TSX:VRX) reported its fiscal 2011 results. Sales were $2. 25 bilion, nearly double 2010’s $1.13 billion. Valeant CEO J. Michael Pearson said: “Our performance continues to demonstrate the strength of our diversified model and our capacity to integrate acquisitions and still deliver strong top-line and bottom-line results.” Shares of Valeant closed today up 5.6% to $50.56. Functional Technologies (TSXV:FEB) announced that efficacy studies with its acrylamide-preventing yeast technology showed significant reduction of asparagine, the main known precursor in the formation of acrylamide. Executive Chairman Howard Louie said: “Our collaborative efforts with leading companies across a variety of food sectors continue to provide us with compelling results like those reported today…” Shares of Functional closed up 9.9% to $.39 cents. Sandvine (TSX:SVC) announced it will sell network policy control solutions to ClearSky Technologies, a provider of hosted and managed mobile data solutions for eighty wireless carriers serving eight million subscribers. Tom Donnelly, Sandvine’s COO sales and global services said: “We are proud to work with leading-edge companies like ClearSky Technologies and Nex-Tech Wireless to implement network policy control solutions…”
Shares of Sandvine closed today up 5.1% to $1.65. More…

H2O Innovation (TSXV:HEO) released a new product called SpectraGuard 350, which the company says provides a higher level of protection and control over inorganic and colloidal species in water reclamation plants and brackish water reverse osmosis plants. David Russell, VP of H20 subsidiary Professional Water Technologies said “It is a very promising addition to our line of membrane systems specialty chemicals and one with great market potential in the fast-growing segment of water reclamation plants.” Shares of H20 closed today down 2% to $.24 cents. Westport Innovations (TSX:WPT) announced it has closed its previously announced offering of common shares in the United States and Canada, including the exercise in full of the underwriters’ option to purchase an additional 825,000 common shares at the offering price of $43.25 (U.S.) per share. With the exercise of the option, Westport issued a total of 6,325,000 common shares under the offering for gross proceeds of (US) $273,556,250. Shares of Westport closed today up .7% to $44.26.
