ISLAND WATER TECHNOLOGIES Stock

Federal Agriculture Minister and MP for the Cardigan riding on Prince Edward Island Lawrence MacAulay, along with Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) Navdeep Bains, announced $500,000 in funding support for Montague, P.E.I.'s Island Water Technologies to help the company develop its prototype REGEN solar powered wastewater treatment system. The $500,000 is conditionally repayable and specifically earmarked for applied research and development, system scaling and integration towards commercializing REGEN as a product. REGEN is a modular, energy independent wastewater treatment solution for remote communities or facilities, including military, mining and disaster relief scenes, where hook-up to infrastructure is not possible. Several months ago, Island Water Technologies' home retrofit septic system solution, ClearPod, was approved for use in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. “At Island Water Technologies we are very excited at the potential our wastewater treatment technologies bring to rural home-owners both here and abroad," said CEO Patrick Kiely. "We currently have a unique, ClearPod treatment solution for homeowners with under-performing septic systems. This funding from ACOA is a key component in us validating our improved REGEN technology, expanding our product offerings and driving future commercial success.” ClearPod and REGEN are two of three offerings developed by Island Water Technologies, the third being SENTRY, a bio-electrochemical sensor for communicating with biology in treatment systems. “I am pleased to announce the Government of Canada’s support for Island Water Technologies to further develop and commercialize its state-of-the-art wastewater system," said MacAulay. "Our Canadian companies are leaders in many fields and we intend to support them in their pursuit to grow, innovate and export.”
