Reklaim (Reklaim Stock Quote, Chart, News, Analysts, Financials TSXV:MYID) founder and CEO Neil Sweeney discussed the company’s approach to consumer data ownership with Ticker Take host Jon Erlichman during the 2025 Cantech Investment Conference in Toronto on Oct. 9.
Toronto-based Reklaim provides a platform that allows individuals to verify their identity, view the personal information collected about them online, and either monetize or protect that data.
Sweeney said the company was founded on the idea that every consumer has a digital profile but no control over it.

“Every consumer in the world has a data profile, nobody has access to that data profile, and yet it acts really as a free input to every business AI agent out there,” he said.
Reklaim’s platform allows users to reclaim their data, place it under their control, and decide whether to sell it directly to brands and AI platforms in exchange for compensation or protect it by requesting removal from thousands of data brokers.
“This is about consumers taking back from the various different companies that have really been using their data without really their consent or permission for the last 20-plus years,” he said.
Asked about the business model, Sweeney described two main revenue streams: a rewards side and a protect side.
“We facilitate the transaction between an advertising agency or UPS and the individual consumer to allow that data to transfer. We take a commission. Every time data is sold, naturally, the more data that we sell, the more money we make,” he said.
Reklaim’s reward business, he added, is profitable with 80% margins, no debt, and growth above 30% annually. On the protect side, consumers subscribe for between US$3 and US$5 per month, or US$25 per year, to have Reklaim monitor their profile, remove them from broker lists, and register them on do-not-sell databases.
Sweeney said Reklaim’s next phase of growth is focused on building its Protect product and expanding subscriptions.
“We just recently hired a former senior leader from Norton to come in and run that product,” he said. The company aims to reach 100,000 subscribers, which he said would translate into roughly a 50% increase in annual revenue.
He added that Reklaim has also introduced a new rewards feature called the Jackpot, which allows users to pool small earnings for a chance to win a larger cash prize.
“Last month we gave it to a woman in Virginia who used the $10,000 to buy a car,” he said, calling it an example of how consumers can experience “life-changing things” by taking control of their data.
Sweeney said Reklaim is well-positioned to benefit as more consumers seek transparency and control over their personal information, adding that momentum is building across both its reward and protect businesses.
