Canadian Wireless Trade Show kicks off in Toronto next week

The 6th annual Canadian Wireless Trade Show will take place at the Toronto Congress Centre October 26-27, with an expected 2,000 attendees in attendance and more than 100 exhibitors from throughout the North American wireless ecosystem, including retailers, dealers, manufacturers, and distributors.
The conference and trade show will feature representatives from start-up companies trying to break in to the wireless space, as well as established players exchanging insights on how to thrive in the current marketplace, with Euler Hermes North America Chief Economist, Dan North, and Globalive Holdings Founder & Chairman, Anthony Lacavera, on the speakers list.
“Recognizing trends and staying at the forefront of wireless technology innovation is a major challenge for all those involved in the wireless ecosystem in Canada and the U.S.,” said Jay Gawri, Director of Exhibitions and Marketing for the Canadian Wireless Trade Show. “Our show is the only B2B wireless industry event in Canada and we offer it free to attend to share the wealth of experience and networking on hand.”
Former WIND Mobile CEO Anthony Lacavera will be keynote speaker on the first day of the conference, participating in a fireside chat format conversation with 88 Creative Managing Director Erin Bury, called “Past, Present and Future of Wireless in Canada: Insights Gained as CEO of WIND Mobile, Opportunities for Today’s Wireless Businesses, and Empowering Canada’s Emerging Entrepreneurs”, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. followed by an audience Q&A.
After having founded Wind Mobile in 2009, Lacavera grew the wireless phone provider to more than 1 million subscribers before the company was acquired by Shaw Communications early in 2016 for approximately $1.6 billion.
Lacavera is now founder and chairman of Globalive Holdings.
“A recent report from the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association indicates there are 29,600,304 wireless subscribers in Canada, so we’re a very connected society relying on wireless for communications and commerce,” said Gawri. “That’s why the Canadian Wireless Trade Show presents such a major opportunity to stay ahead of the curve.”
Other presenters include TELUS National Manager, Planning & Engineering, Jason DeHetre, who will deliver a talk called “Deploying Drones in the Workplace: How UAV Technology is Contributing to TELUS Infrastructure Operations” and University of Waterloo Electrical and Computer Engineering professor and Director of the Generative Software Development Lab, Dr. Krzysztof Czarnecki, who will offer “A Tour of the Road to Autonomous Cars”, among many other speakers.
A Start-Up Pavilion organized by Waterloo, Ontario’s Communitech will feature a number of smaller innovation-focused companies, including Alert Labs, Flexfinity, Reforges, Cellstore Software and Trinity Mobile Application Technologies.
The B2B wireless trade show will also feature a drone demonstration by Gold Sponsor of the show Gap Wireless, with Team Canada Drone team member and Gap Wireless UAV Product Line Manager, Paul Baur, demonstrating drone technology.
Products and services showcased at the conference will be grouped into broad categories, including accessories, innovation and start-ups, M2M, an App Zone, wearable technology, retail solutions, small cell/DAS/Backhaul/broadband/infrastructure, home automation, and cloud solutions.
