ioFABRIC strikes U.S. software-defined storage distribution deal with SYNNEX Corporation

Toronto Storage-as-a-Service company ioFABRIC has signed an agreement with technology solutions distributor SYNNEX Corporation (NYSE: SNX), allowing value-added-resellers, systems integrators and service providers to become their customers’ strategic provider of ioFABRIC Vicinity, the company’s software-defined storage platform.
ioFABRIC made Vicinity generally available in April, after debuting the platform in August 2015.
“As a company 100 percent dedicated to selling through the channel, SYNNEX is an ideal collaborator to help us extend the reach of Vicinity throughout the reseller community,” said Nigel Miller, Vice President of Business Development for ioFABRIC. “Together, ioFABRIC and SYNNEX are well positioned for ensuring partners get the tools, resources and benefits needed to solve pressing IT issues of effectively using flash, dealing with data growth and managing disparate storage across the enterprise for their customer base.”
Last August, ioFabric’s Vicinity won the Most Innovative Enterprise Business Application award at the annual Flash Memory Summit in Santa Clara, California, and Enterprise Management Associates also chose ioFABRIC for an “EMA Vendors to Watch” award.
Founded in 2013, ioFabric has been funded by private investors and Real Ventures, and the company consists of a group of serial entrepreneurs, including co-founder and chief technology officer Rayan Zachariassen, vice president of marketing Andrew Flint, business development director Nigel Miller, and co-founder and CEO Steven Lamb, all of whom have worked together for the past 20 years, successfully piloting four previous companies to exits.
Vicinity is an example of SDS 2.0. Whereas SDS 1.0 was about virtualizing storage, SDS 2.0 offers IT professionals a degree of automation and control over how their storage works via a user interface that automatically places active data on high-performance media enabling fast access while pushing lower priority data onto higher capacity, less expensive media.
Channel partners will have the opportunity to sell Vicinity as a licensed software and support solution or to white-label it with additional hardware or software.
The Vicinity platform unifies existing storage resources and centralizes storage management, simplifying flash deployment and improving storage utilization, while also delivering application-specific Quality of Service levels.
ioFABRIC’s reseller program offers either the Business level, which provides a variety of training, marketing, collateral, tools and software, or the Premier level, which provides a strategic relationship with ioFABRIC in terms of market and product visibility.
Both levels are supported by ioFABRIC’s LEaD (Learn Explore and Deploy) program, the platform’s online educational tool.
